My design for the environment came from a photo of a junkyard that I found. I put the work bench and the robot in there as his pal and workspace respectively. I decided on a junkyard shot because I figured that he would have this secret work station that no one knew about in the back of where he lived. A place his parents or others never went to.

As far as the design of the boy, I went with the manga eyes and hair because he like robots and I thought that they sort of went together. I put an old pot on his head as a hat because that is something that I could see a young boy who lived in the junkyard wearing. Not only for style but protection as well. He is holding a wrench because he likes to tinker and wearing overalls because that is also something that I would picture a boy who lived on a junkyard wearing.

Here are some faces with different expressions for the Brent Villian. I wanted him to have that suave old time English look, but be evil and dastardly at the same time.

This was meant to be an angry face, like his plans are being foiled.

This is his cunning dastardly face. Like when he would come up with his evil plan and laugh an evil laugh. It sort of reminded me of Boris from Rocky and Bullwinkle.

This is a flirty innocent face that he would display when flirting with the towns women and acting innocent.

This would be his normal face when not around the other towns people. He will be grumpy all the time and put on a show for the towns people.

Rocking it 1980's like with a Apple logo traced in flash with the pen tool.
Quick drawing in Flash for a female character for a western.

Another quick drawing in Flash for a female character for a western. They both need some more work and refining.

Below is my drawing of the main character that I drew on paper and then bitmap traced in flash. Will soon be posting a copy of him with his fills.

These are some different mouth sketches that I have done.

These are some different sketches of eyes that I have done.

These are my sketches from an assignment from one of my textbooks. They are rough sketches for characters that are to star in a western animation.

These are some sketches of some shapes for my characters heads. I haven't decided which shapes I like best though. I just doodle and try to sketch as many shapes as I can.
The tiger character

  A female tiger character

 A very rough reaper character

These are some very rough preliminary sketches of some character ideas that I have been messing around with.
Character 1
Name: Florence or Flo for short
Back story: Flo is an average girl with average skills. She lives a typical boring average life.  One day she is tragically killed, only to be reincarnated as a cute iconic character. She comes to find out that she has not just been reincarnated as an animal or anything; she is a reaper that has to collect the souls of those about to die. She travels around with her reaper boss Frankie who is a tiger to collect the souls of unfortunate people. She lives her life every day while getting assignments from fFrankie on where to be to reap her souls.
Hierarchy: She is a lead character in the beginning and then is reborn as an iconic character

Strengths:
• Average smarts
• Is already dead so she cannot die
• Heals instantly
• Never grows any older
• Can reap your soul
Weaknesses:
• Misses her old life
• Loneliness
• Does not like what she has been chosen to do
• Hates death
Comparisons:
• At first she is sort of an anime girl look to her and after her transformation she is almost like a Happy Tree Friend, very cute and simple.

Character 2
Name: Frankie
Back-story:  Not much is known about Frankie. He was once a man but was reincarnated as a tiger to reap souls like Flo. He is now a boss over his group of reapers, which includes Flo. He has been a reaper for some time and has grown very wise over the many years that he has walked the Earth.
Hierarchy:  Frankie would fall into the simple character category.
Strengths:
• Extremely smart and wise about life and death
• Cannot Die
• Heals extremely fast
• Is a tiger
Weaknesses:
• Ready to move on
• Very sympathetic
• After all the time that has passed, he still misses his family
Comparisons:
• Frankie will be a simple character that gets his point across.

One of my favorite characters is Batman.I still read graphic novels with Batman. It brings me back to my childhood. I also find it very interesting how the many artists who have tackled Batman over the years all have their own looks and takes on the Dark Knight.
